Great Oaks Country Club first opened for play in 1966. The course was designed by Gene Hamm.
This is a demanding course. The front nine has generous fairways. The fairways on the back nine are narrow. Water hazards come into play on a few holes.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees, the course plays to 6437 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5036 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 6, a par-5 that plays to 523 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 12, a par-3 that plays to 149 yards from the back tees.
The most difficult hole is #7, a 409-yard, par 4, featuring a huge pine tree directly in front of the green. The easiest hole is # 16, a 341 yard par-4.

Beautiful mountain course. Greens are usually as good as you'll find in the area. No housing near the course is a plus that adds greatly to the ambience. Ponds, a creek and large mature pine and oak trees line and compliment the rolling fairways. A nice stand of grass to work with but kept a bit too long in fairways and fringes, otherwise a very pleasant golfing experience.
